In another sign America has peaked as a nation, a 14-year-old boy from Dallas, TX was arrested for dealing “cheese,” a heroin and over-the-counter medication mix. Along with the drugs, police found a mixture of firearms with “hundreds of rounds of ammunition.” To make it even better, an 8-year-old boy acted as the lookout. Where were the parents? They were oblivious to what was going on, judging by their arrest and subsequent release.

Back in February, it was an 11-year-old sex predator making the news in North Texas. What will be next? This is what Deputy Chief Julian Bernal had to say about all of this:

Once again, we’re back talking about 14-year-olds, and now 8-year-olds involved in the process of selling heroin. That’s extremely disturbing, and as a society it ought to be disturbing for all of us.

Well said.

This story is like so many that I hear every day as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor
in the public schools.

11 and 12 year-old dealers and look outs or common in all school districts.
From middle and upper middle class kids who sell drugs to finance their i pods, cars, and parties,

to new immigrant filled lower income districts with Kids who come to this country with more street smarts than you and I will ever have. Many have been working in their family’s business at 6, 7, 8-years-old. For many families it is expected for the younger ones to hold the drugs because the adults know that the minor children will not go to prison. Some of these kids have been working as pick pockets and look outs for robberies since early childhood.

Children running drugs is not an isolated thing. This is a multinational billion dollar business that is well organized and embedded into our culture. Locally every county has gangs that run drugs and recruit younger and younger kids. The parents are outnumbered and out witted.

The fact that this story is news tells me that the adults still have their heads up…….
..I mean their heads buried like ostriches.

The parents, the teachers, the administrators are all in denial. Our schools are the best
place for kids to buy and deal drugs. It’s an open market with a captive target market for drugs.

I could write about this all day as it is my life, my vocation, my passion, and my ministry.

God Bless you for this post.

Yeah I heard about this on the local news, couldn’t believe it. Well wait I think I can actually. The 8 year old really didn’t have a clue but man where are the parents.
I just don’t understand how parents can just not care about their kids.
